Katy Perry's latest endeavor aims to
make people laugh and feel good at the same time.
In the new year, artist Katy Perry launched De Soi, a brand of ready-to-drink
sodas that contain natural boosters.
When speaking with People about the
new line, which debuted on January 6, Perry explains why she opted to make the
drinks non-alcoholic. "Well, I'm 37," she says, "so I definitely
can't drink like I did in my twenties."
“One weekday, some [alcoholic
drinks] will take me out of my gym for tomorrow or two. So for the whole week,
I try to maintain self-control, then have dinner with friends and play
different sports on the weekends or while I'm no longer working, etc. But
regardless of the ending, almost everything is in balance,” says the author.
"My Heart Is So Full,
Finally," Katy Perry says of motherhood,
calling it a "Game
Changer."
The "Teenage Dream" singer
has stated that she will "go through
periods" of drinking and
not drinking.
"I'm not constantly drinking
and I'm really focused," she explains.
"Then I'm like, 'It's not
a big deal,'" she explains.
According to Perry, De Soi is available
in ready-to-drink cans or
bottles and is French for
"pleasure with restraint." The three flavors
available are Golden Hour,
Champignon Dreams, and Purple Lune.
Each one is jam-packed with fresh
ingredients. Purple Lune includes
notes of blackberry nectar,
vanilla oak, and rose petals; Champignon
Dreams has strawberry and
grapefruit essence, and Golden Hour has
tones of warm citrus,
lemongrass, and green herbs.
The entire creative process has been
a labor of love for the Grammy-nominated superstar. "My favorite food is
herbs. One of my favorite subjects is alchemy. "I also appreciate the
sensation of some of the different adaptogens that are in the beverages,"
she says, "I am a major admirer of health and wellbeing." "The
healing process will be aided by some of these herbs and nutrients."
De Soi's product range is vegan,
gluten-free, non-GMO, and free of
artificial flavors and colors,
according to an official press release.
"There's a lot of delight, but
there's also a lot of self-control," says
Perry of the drinks, which are
at the top of his New Year's goals list.
Which flavor is your favorite? The
singer likes them all, but Purple
Lune is her personal favorite.
"It's the wealthiest," she tells
PEOPLE. "For me, it's the
most interesting flavor."
Why is Katy Perry dining with Prince
Charles on curry takeout?
Perry also states that her new
company is a natural extension of a part of herself that has been
"developing" for "a few years.""
"It's basically my engagement
in the health and wellness industry and different companies that I truly
believe in and back," she adds, mentioning her work with Bragg, Impossible
Foods, and Apeel as examples.
"I think De Soi is a perfect
match for my future as a health and
wellness business since it
genuinely embodies the notion of just
taking care of your temple as
best you can while still having heaps
of fun," the mother of
one adds.
De Soi is presently available on the
internet for $25 in 750 mL
bottles or 4-packs of 8 oz
cans.
